Your Limitations Are Only In Your Mind

Your limitations are only in your mind

The limitations we attribute to ourselves do not really exist. These are perceptions that we have adopted during our lives since we were little. They are barriers that have been built based on what we learned from our parents and teachers. They are not necessarily limitations that we have reached ourselves.

In order to begin to overcome the limitations we place on ourselves, it is important that we understand in mind and heart that this is something we ourselves have assumed. There are certain disciplines, such as coaching and NLP (neurolinguistic programming), that can help us overcome our limitations.

How and when our limitations are created

We are all born with a set of genes that allow us to do certain things better than others. But that does not mean we have to give up all the things we do not do well. We can therefore say that genetics is actually the origin of our limitations.

The environment we live in, our family, our friends and our education are all important factors when it comes to creating many of our limitations. All of these factors also affect the way we discover our own talents and how we experience the activities we have a passion for.

Cage

Children do not have any restrictions when they want to try things. The reason for this is that they think they can do anything. Ken Robinson, a British author, believes that when we grow up, the education system prepares us for the “real world”. But what is the real world? Of course, it is not the same as it was a few years ago.

We live in a society that is completely different compared to before, but with an education system that is the same as before. Thanks to the static nature of the education system, what is taught in schools is one of the factors that sets mental boundaries on what we then internalize.

Getting over your limitations

Children are not afraid to experiment, to think differently. It is therefore important to regain that creativity and learn, again, how to think like a child. It is important to free yourself from limitations and do things that you have a passion for. So what should you learn if you want to eliminate your limitations?

To regain an amazing ability to learn

Children have a great curiosity for everything around them. They look at everything, they touch everything, they explore everything. They never cease to be interested in different things. Thanks to that curiosity, they have a great ability to learn.

Overcoming the fear of being wrong

Children are not afraid to make mistakes. This is a fear that we embrace a little at a time when we grow up and internalize the idea that a mistake is something bad. It is also important to learn and understand that a mistake can be a very valuable experience, and can also be a success in itself.

To do everything with passion

Developing the things we feel passionate about and having hope when it comes to the things we do will affect the results we get. If we are not passionate about the job we have now, it’s time to change. Maybe it’s time to be honest when it comes to the things we really like and work on developing this.

To play

Children

Children can learn to play with everything. From a simple cardboard box to a cheeky radio-controlled car, and they do not stop exploring new things. But adults have lost the ability to play to learn. We always say things to ourselves like “I can not”, “I can not do this” etc., which constantly reinforces our inherent limitations.
