Use Positive Language To Change Your Outlook On Life

Use positive language to change your outlook on life

Using a positive language can change our lives  because it helps us change our way of communicating and our relationships with others, and this in turn affects how we see the world. It can even change how we feel and make us happier.

We tend to complain and criticize things that bother us every day. If it’s cold, if it’s raining, if you have to stand in line, if you have a lot of work to do, if you do not like the food you eat. We then focus all our energy on things we do not like. We only think about the negative aspects, which makes it even harder for us to enjoy the day.

But if we use positive language, it will open up opportunities around us and affect our brain. If we send positive messages to the brain, it will respond differently than if you repeat something that is unpleasant. If we think positive thoughts, we will therefore have greater opportunities to live a happy life.

Words have power. They can have a direct effect on our mood and even stay in our minds and hearts forever. Think, for example, of a time when someone said something to you that made you very happy. You probably remember how good you felt then. Now think of a time when someone said something to you that you did not like. The sad feelings may then have stayed with you for a long time.

The philosopher Luis Castellanos is a pioneer in positive language research. He applies discoveries from neuroscience in everyday life. He can therefore create innovative strategies, tools and practical solutions that can have a positive impact on people’s lives.

As the main tool, he uses the clinical results made through e.g. magnetic resonance imaging. Through this research, he has been able to observe how the synaptic connections in the brain behave when using positive and negative words. Luis Castellanos has also demonstrated how to use a positive language in education.

We will now show you five tips that will help you apply the positive language in your own life. Let’s look at how they are:

Modify your language

You should first know what you are saying to the person you are talking to. To do this, try not to use negative language with humiliating words.

If the other person does not behave in an appropriate way, you can let him or her know this in a positive way, instead of criticizing the person and hurting his or her feelings. Ask the person to try again and state that you appreciate the person’s effort. Never say phrases like “You are not doing anything right” or “You are stupid” . We are all human beings and we all deserve respect.

Change your mood

Write a list of motivational words (pleasure, kindness, discovery, gratitude, joy, smile) and read them aloud every time you would like to modify or change your feelings. You will notice how this exercise improves your mood.

It is important to regulate the language through training, as the consequence will then be that you get into the habit of communicating in a positive way. Being aware of the emotions you are experiencing will help you find the right words to express them better.

Avoid negative labels

Marking someone as “stupid” or “useless person” can have a direct impact on how others see the person. The person can also begin to believe this himself.

Labels control how others see us; they can even affect the goals we achieve in the future. If you want to give someone a label, do not do it. But if you feel that you have to do it anyway, then make sure you do it in a positive and uplifting way.

Communicate through your emotions

Not only do you have to be aware of your own feelings, it is equally important to be aware of others. Showing interest in how others feel can make them feel better. They may thus feel a greater tendency to fulfill their dreams and overcome new challenges.

We can use words to make people laugh, smile, cry, scream, suffer, etc. Let us make sure to use positive language to improve how we look at both our own and others’ lives.

A positive language and optimism

By using a positive language, we will be able to show the best side of ourselves. Speaking in a positive way can make you feel better in certain circumstances. If you use it in your daily routine, you will also be able to change the way you look at the world (for the better).

As Castellanos says, we all deserve the opportunity to live a good life. Our words are one of the best tools we have to have a good future and good emotional health, which is why we need to be careful about what we say to ourselves and others.
